On the sporting front, our university teams are in practice mode. Students are signing
up for the Krea Cricket League, and our tennis and badminton teams have been
announced. The men’s tennis team comprises Ansh Bhargava, Hemant Megavath,
Tejas Narayan, Viraat Sing, and Shivansh. The Women’s tennis team comprises
Tanishka Sahay, Ahanya Appaiah, Mrinalini Shishodia and Dhriti Babel. The men’s
badminton team comprises Adnan Qureshi, Pranav Jain, Abhinav Thapa, Sidharth
Sarma, Aadit Jain, Yashh Jhawar, and Manu MG. The women’s badminton team
comprises Aisiri Haritsa, Navya Holla, Gitanjali Naveen, Aarthi Venkatesh, Netra
Krishnan, Mahika Jaising, and Dhruvi Dombe. The second edition of the Krea
BasketBall league (KBL) is in full swing! 4 teams, 7 matches, who will come out on top?

Since the month of November has been quite hectic for the student body as well as
faculty, a wellbeing week was the much needed respite and break from all things work.
Through 7 days of Workshops, sessions, conversations, and discussions, the second
edition of Wellness Week also arrived bringinging with it a lot of insightful experiences,
fun and relaxation. There were sessions on Dance Movement Therapy, Mindfulness,
Yoga, Clay and Play, Zumba, Mandala colouring and journaling. There was also a
workshop on Assistive Technology by Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually
Challenged. Finally, conversations on “Adjusting to New Cultures and Environments”,
“Evolving Coping Strategies for College Life : Students’ Experiences”, and “Dealing with
Rejection”. The highlight of the week was by far the Affirmation Desk and Letters of
Gratitude. We can’t wait for wellness week to be back!
Moving from a week-long celebration to a day-long celebration, three special events
took place on the occasion of Constitution Day. A legal awareness session for students
with respect to POSH policies was held by advocate Akila RS, co-founder of Parvaai
Advisors, and previously a professor of law at esteemed institutions across the country.
A panel discussion on “The Indian Constitution in our Times” was also held, the panel
comprised Professor Bishnu Mohapatra, Professor Sambaiah Gundimeda, and
Advocate Akila RS. Finally, a poster exhibition was also organised by the Office of
Academic Administration that dealt with questions of the Constitution and social,
political, and economic justice.
The last two weeks of November have also seen a collection of film screenings on
campus. As part of the Constitution Day celebrations, Mari Selvaraj’s Pariyerum
Perumal was screened. On November 25th, “Occupied” a 5 Part web-series focusing
on the heart and soul of the people of the West Bank, through stories of art, music,
dance, culture, and love, was also screened and then followed by a discussion with the
director Pranav Pingle.
A plethora of Higher Education and career related events have also been happening on
campus. Krea’s first ever On Campus Career Fair was held on the 25th of November
with representatives from Accenture, DayZero, Karkinos, ProClime and Tree Education
in attendance. The CDC held virtual placement talks with representatives from two
companies - Essai and Kruu, on 24th November. On the 30th of November, the CSO
hosted representatives from 20+ universities across 10 countries at its higher education
fair. An information session was also held by the University of Sussex.
And to round it all off, the UWC elections are now in full swing. The food committee has
already been chosen. The members are Varshinie RA (spokesperson), Seema
Vishwakarma, Anoop Yadav, Venkataraman Ramakrishnan (aka Venkat), Vartika Sibal,
Harshi Shah, and yours truly.
